Laura Zeck - Owner/Artist
Laura first learned of printmaking in the 3rd grade at a field day put on by her elementary school. She thought it looked very dirty, in a grimy sort of way. Only later while attending art school, after losing a dare to a fellow classmate (loser had to take the elective of the other's choice), did she take a closer look, and at that point she was hooked.

Since receiving her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute (91'), and her MFA from the University of Washington (93'), Laura has held positions as an art instructor, a waitress, a writer, a producer/art director, and head hunter, in addition to her work as an artist. She is a former President of the AIGA Seattle Chapter, and the CO-Director of Art with Heart, a community outreach program focusing on at-risk- youth. She is currently chairing a 5 part lecture series entitled "Women in Design", and the 2nd edition of the Intergenerational Book Project, a recent NEA grant recipient.

Laura's work has been shown in many galleries, is included in both public and private collections, and was recently on exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. Laura launched Short Stories in December 2001 with the support of many wonderful friends. When she is not meeting with clients, she is probably working compulsively to add more plates to the collection last numbering in the range of 350-400.
